As an individual and not a writer, I find myself drifting away from my work at times. Time and other human activities take me away from my commitment to poetry, especially. Then, there is this administrative down time that is required when you depend on yourself to do the footwork of the business.
So here, I sit in my office. I've worked all day at the business end of things and I'm trying to keep the words that create my poetry from spilling out into my consciousness and dissolving into air before I can get them onto the "paper" that is now my word processor. At other times, my impulse toward writing disappears and I find myself with the time to write ,but with no word flow. The work isn't good when it's forced. Such irony! Life and the love I have for words provide no explanation for their appearances and disappearances.
I am committed to my endeavors and give up a lot to stay in this office. I set goals, write lists, and achieve some of the items on those lists. I don't leave for long, I won't stop for long. I continue.
