or Post-structural Poetry:
The Post-structural writer seeks the new, the untamed, the wildness of the unbounded. #writers
Post-structural writers reject structure within all literature & not just Western literary precepts. #BLOG http://bit.ly/1oAO9Fk #writers
Something to remember:
Post-structural poetry is not so much poetry without structure, but poetry after structure. The post-structural writer/poet rejects the idea of traditional structure within literature, all literature, not just Western precepts. Post-structuralism runs concurrent with other styles, but rejects traditionalism for more personal, self-taught, self-presented unusual styles, tones, and structure/design.
Comment:
I'm on Twitter at least once a day. My followers are good at reTweeting and a core group of us do thank yous to those who RT us on Wednesdays (#WW) and Fridays (#FollowFriday and #FF). This practice is Twitter etiquette. Who says there are no manners in the tweetlines. I try to Tweet good information about writing, poetry, and post-structuralism (#poststructuralism) to my followers. I enjoy inventing Tweets that sound and look good, all within that 140 context--now that's structure.
I don't spend much of my time on other social media. I don't have the time. I am writing a memoir, writing and editing poetry, editing two novels, submitting to literary journals and magazines, and I'm involved in two other writing projects that need my attention. I can't do them all in a twenty-four hour period, unless I plan my time and do lists.
I use a few of the concepts of Post-structuralism in my writing. I reject punctuation in my poetry. Some of the literary journal editors or their staffs are "appalled" at this. They, or those they report to, are trying to perpetuate centuries-old traditions that many writers find limiting, stifling, and a gibbet of self-perpetuating ritual. Okay, I admit I'm having fun now. But, seriously, lighten up and experience the wildless of the unbounded, as I wrote above.
My question to you now is: How will you apply post-structuralism to your work?
Quote:
"(After post-structuralism was defined) ...Reading became less about interpreting a system of signs
than a way into understanding an individual--in this case, the author. Traces of the author's
subjectivity and all of the crises he or she has experienced can be seen in the production of the
writing. Authors always reveal the workings of their own minds in their writing. Remember,
post-structuralists do not believe that language has closed definitions, so why would a book
have only one meaning? Read closely, friends."
--Julia Kristeva, From Revolution in Poetic Language
