As a poet, you never know where the next source of inspiration for your poetry comes from. Lately, it's been the Noah weather radio, or whatever it's called. We call it Noah as in Bill Cosby's old stand-up routine: "Noah? " (The film was just tooo bad to talk about). We joke about the flood warnings, but they are serious. The radio goes off and my anxiety level climbs. I start scribbling things.
I told the dog the other day when the alarms were going off every five minutes, "if the weather robot inside that box doesn't shut up, I am going to look him up at his robot radio station." Not really, I'm glad the warning system is there; but, after hours of hearing the startling and almost continuous noise of the warnings, I am almost inspired to violence. I'm not alone, when I talked to my neighbor down the street, he said he and his wife were as weary of the warnings as much as they were tired of the storms and flooding. We have more bad weather moving in tonight and I suppose I will be up scribbling away. Watch out weather robot.
Or, hmmm, perhaps... I have a new, albeit temporary, muse. My dog will be jealous.

I edited my writing on this blog. I wrote it around 2 AM, in the dark. I'm usually happy with things after the sevenh edit but the second will have to do here. Thanks for tolerating my first draft writing. My pup is fine and the NOAA radio survived to go off on another day, perhaps when we will have to head for the basement again. The flooding is still going on and access to the area is limited; but, I still love this beautiful lake. I travelled a long way to be here.

the things brought a storm
that built for a decade
brought a sometimes
raging, sometimes subsiding
blow to the door
sent roof shingles flying
limbs dropping onto ground
never quenched...
